The temple uses the ritual of fasting

 The place where the monks of Buddhist monasteries eat is generally called the temple, while some monasteries are called the "Five temple", referred to as the "temple". The monks eat, also known as "passing the hall".
For the term "trial", you may know from life or television, refers to the litigant to the court trial. However, in Buddhism, "passing through the hall" is "eating", which is a unique ritual system of Chinese Buddhist temples. Passing through the hall twice during the morning and afternoon fasting is to regard eating as an important practice method, which occupies an important position in the life of the Sangha, and is the unity of Buddhist thought and etiquette.
Why is it called Five Temples? Because when a monk eats, he has to have five thoughts:
1, the amount of work, the amount of where to come - donor a grain of rice, as big as Xumi mountain, to think that every grain of food is hard-won, if you do not practice well, grain of rice is difficult to go away;
2, the whole lack of virtue should be provided - when self-planning and self-encouragement, not slack a day, not eat a meal;
3, prevent heart away, greed and so on for the zong - not greedy for food, not angry at bad food, with equal heart to it. If there is no greed, then all kinds of suffering will not arise. People who practice practice often think of the suffering in their hearts to keep them away from the evil.
4, good medicine, to cure withered - diet is like a good medicine, can treat the disease of hunger and thirst of the body. The car has oil to start, the body is the same, eating just to maintain physical strength, hard work, should not be in the food to distinguish between likes and dislikes;
5, In order to become a Taoist, should be subject to this food - diet can nourish the body, benefit the Taoist. To cultivate the truth by false, little food is easy to hunger, weak body, difficult to become a Tao; But if you take too much, it is also easy to produce various diseases. So you have to eat right in order to cultivate yourself.
"Five views if the daughter is easy, three hearts are not yet dripping water." Always be ashamed of the heart, do not lose the right mind, do not say people I am right and wrong, stray words. Thinking about the hard-won food and the suffering of sentient beings generates gratitude, compassion, centrifugation and bodhichitta.
It is an absolutely quiet eating process, and the whole process should be performed two to three times, that is, two to three times to deliver food. If the first walk is not enough to eat, you can add it in the next walk. The call for forbidden speech, that is, can not speak, the food and how much to use specific gestures.
Buddhism believes that the donor of a grain of rice is as big as Mount Xumu. This means that all the daily consumption of a monk is provided by the world. Even if it is just a grain of rice provided by the donor, in the eyes of the true practitioners, it is as precious as Xumi mountain!
After collecting the utensils, Vena began to sing, and the masses sang "Jiezhai Gatha". After fasting, the monks marched out of the five temples. The ceremony is over.
"Passing hall" is a unique ritual in Chinese Buddhist monasteries. Although the "hall" ceremony is different in different monasteries, the "hall" ritual practiced by Chinese Buddhist monasteries in the morning and afternoon fasting according to the law is "two hours of the temple."
Stop talking, sit up, eat with mindfulness, and be silent. Recite the "Offering Gatha" and "Jiezhai Gatha" before and after fasting, indicating that the general is in love with the offering of the three treasures of Buddha and monk and the Dharma realm, and should mention mindfulness when eating, and keep the five views of food. This is the ritual of fasting in the temple, do you understand?
